Zayed Sustainability Prize 2022 Awards Ceremony

After a one-year postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, the 10 winners of the 2022 Zayed Sustainability Prize were recognised at the 13th edition of the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony on January 17th, 2022.


The Awards Ceremony made its highly anticipated come back at Expo 2020 on the first day of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, presented awards to the winners with the participation of a number of world leaders.

Reflecting the global reach and diverse impact of the Prize, this year's winners are active in a number of world regions, offering innovative sustainable and humanitarian solutions across various sectors. Addressing challenges in the areas of Health, Food, Energy, Water, collectively, these winners have been involved in delivering solutions to a wide range of beneficiaries and our Global High Schools category winners are just beginning their exciting journey into sustainability.

Zayed Sustainability Prize Highlights the Power of Sustainability in Shaping a Brighter Future at ADSW 2022

This year, the Zayed Sustainability Prize's presence at the 2022 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), witnessed robust participation by the Prize's global community of pioneers and visionaries who are committed to improving lives daily.


Apart from the widely followed Awards Ceremony, which recognised and celebrated the new winners through its $USD 3 million fund, winners and finalists from the Prize's Health, Food and Water categories participated in some of ADSW's programmes that took place at the one-week event.

Innovate 2022

One winner and three finalists from the Zayed Sustainability Prize participated in an engaging panel at Masdar City's global initiative, Innovate on 18th January 2022 entitled 'Innovating for an inclusive, sustainable future'. The event featured various group discussions and an exhibition showcasing technologies from 20 international startups and small to mid-size enterprises (SMEs). Read More


Youth Engagement
2022 Water Finalist participates in Y4S

Jodie Wu, CEO at OffGridBox took part in the Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Forum on 18th January 2022 on the sidelines of ADSW. Y4S is a Masdar-led global platform operating under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, that brings together young professionals and university students to accelerate sustainable development. Students Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

After a successful day of speaking opportunities and discussions, the winners in the Global High Schools category visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi to learn more about the culture of the UAE and the namesake of the Prize. Read More

Country Pavilion Tours at Expo 2020 Dubai

To conclude their visit, the finalists and winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize spent January 19th at Expo 2020 visiting their country pavilions as well as the pavilions of other countries with a specific focus on countries within the Sustainability District that are empowering their citizens to innovate for the future. Carbon Neutrality: The Road to Net-Zero

Produced under the key theme of ‘Carbon Neutrality: The Road to Net-Zero, the 9th episode of Voices of Sustainability recently aired on Monday, 31 January 2022.


The episode featured clean energy experts and guest speakers; Adnan Amin, Laurence Tubiana, Rachel Kyte and David Sandalow. All participating panellists came from diverse and seasoned backgrounds in renewable energy, and sustainability more broadly, while sharing a common vison with the Prize through their commitment to accelerating change through impactful sustainable solutions. Gender Equality in the Decade of Action

The next episode of Voices of Sustainability is scheduled to air on Wednesday 23 February 2022 at 4 pm GST, will be held under the theme of "Gender Equality in the Decade of Action".


Guest speakers include Mohammad Naciri, Regional Director of UN Women for Asia, and Pacific and Christine Lins, Executive Director, Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET). Read More
